Stop This Injustice Now. Dear President Ryan, We are outraged that an American-Israeli UVA student, who was assaulted at an October 25, 2023 rally sponsored by UVA's Students for Justice in Palestine chapter (SJP) is now subject to an honor committee investigation. This baseless investigation was initiated by the SJP president who alleges that the assault was fabricated. The American-Israeli student's statement has been confirmed by an unimpeachable witness. There is something very wrong at UVA when such a preposterous claim is not immediately dismissed. This situation is unprecedented at UVA: a victim is being prosecuted for speaking out about being assaulted. Historically, UVA has accepted claims of harassment without skepticism. There seems to be one exception to that rule: when the target of the assault is a Jewish student. Since October 7, 2023, there has been a blatant difference in how UVA treats Jewish students compared to other minorities. The absurd honor committee accusation is the tragically predictable result of UVA's inaction against the rise of antisemitism on campus. Ironically, the honor committee, esta- blished to maintain the values of justice and mutual respect on campus, is now complicit in a Dreyfus Affair-like travesty of justice. We insist that the honor committee investigation be terminated immediately. The allegations against the American-Israeli student should be expunged from his record, and the accuser should face consequences for misusing and weaponizing the honor committee process. UVA must reaffirm its dedication to a safe and inclusive environment for all students, free from discrimination and harassment. We trust in your leadership to address and resolve this issue promptly and fairly. Sincerely, Jacob Kogan
